How does the Pell Grant work?

Are you worried about the amount of financial aid you will have to pay back once you graduate? Most students have the same concern, but the good news is that there are several options available to help ease that burden. The Pell Grant is a great option to help! The Pell Grant is usually awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree or professional degree. While it is easy to apply for, there are some qualifications that the Pell grant is based upon such as financial need, cost of tuition, whether you’re a full time or part time student, and your plans of attending for a full academic year or not.

Once your application is completed and you have been awarded an amount, that money will then be applied to your financial aid award amount. What does that mean? If you applied for financial aid as well, that money is added to your amount. You have the option to take out less in student loans at that point.

Once you have your award amount, and have chosen what institution you want to enroll in, all you have to do is add that school to your account. Your financial aid and grant money will be sent directly to that school and applied to your tuition and books. You don’t have to worry about making payments on time or not having money for books, everything is taken care of with the click of a button on your FAFSA.

The Pell grant helps those that need a little extra financial help. The best part is, that help doesn’t have to be paid back as long as you complete your program. Sound unbelieveable? Believe it! There are several programs out there to help give those who need it the chance to make a change in their career and their future. The Pell grant is one of many that has helped change lives for the better.
